Request for manual 'shutdown' plug usage for simple-video-converter (No auto-connect)

name: simple-video-converter description: A heavy-duty tool designed for batch video processing, with custom hardware encoding and a highly requested “Post-Queue Action” feature. snapcraft: PRIVATE (Proprietary software) upstream: PRIVATE (Public issue tracker and releases: https://github.com/STENS66/Simple-Video-Converter) upstream-relation: Owner / Developer plugs: shutdown: request-type: installation reasoning: | Simple-Video-Converter allows users to queue large batches of video files. This process relies heavily on the CPU/GPU and often runs overnight. A highly requested feature from our community (see GitHub issue #18: [Feat]: Sleep/hibernate/turn off option after queue is finished · Issue #18 · STENS66/Simple-Video-Converter · GitHub) is an option to automatically shut down the workstation once the batch is completed.

We are STRICTLY NOT requesting auto-connection for this plug.

The application operates under 'strict' confinement on core24 and features a graceful fallback UI:
  1. It actively checks if the 'shutdown' plug is connected.
  2. If not, the UI displays a clear warning and explicitly instructs the user to run `sudo snap connect simple-video-converter:shutdown` in their terminal to opt-in.
  3. For user safety, the power-off action triggers a 60-second visual countdown with a "Cancel" button to prevent unexpected shutdowns or data loss.

Hi @stens66

The reasoning makes sense to me. +1 from me to grant manual-connection of shutdown interface after successful publisher vetting. What do other reviewers think?

Hello @stens66,

Thank you for the detailed request! This is also a +1 from me for granting manual connection of the shutdown interface to the simple-video-converter snap.

Hi @stens66

shutdown interface is considered super privileged and requires publisher vetting before we can grant this request. Given that the application is closed source, we will need you to complete this process to verify your account in order to make the changes live.

Hello @shishirsub10 and @elisehdy,

Thank you very much for your reviews and the +1 votes! As an independent developer publishing a closed-source application, I completely understand the need for publisher vetting. I am currently reviewing the ‘Star Developer’ policy and will submit my vetting request shortly. I will link it here once it is posted.

Best regards,

Hello @shishirsub10,

I have just submitted my publisher vetting application for the Star Developer status. You can find the request here: https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/star-developer-application-stens66-gaetan-sencie/53487

Thank you very much!

Hi @stens66

Kindly let me know once the star developer request is approved. Thanks!
