description: The manila-data Snap packs the data service of OpenStack Manila, the Shared Filesystems component of the Canonical OpenStack (Sunbeam). It handles data-intensive operations such as host-assisted share migration and creating shares from snapshots, including copying data between shares.

-
upstream-relation: The Snap is maintained by Canonical as part of Canonical OpenStack (Sunbeam), with packages from the upstream OpenStack Manila
manila-dataservice is provided through the Ubuntu Cloud Archive. -
interfaces:
-
nfs-mount:
-
request-type: auto-connection
-
reasoning: For the host-assisted share migration, the manila-data service mounts the NFS exports of the source and destination shares to copy the data between them. In Canonical OpenStack, CephFS shares are also exported over NFS. This auto-connection will cover the default Sunbeam shared-filesystem backend. Mounts are only made under
$SNAP_COMMON, which is whatnfs-mountinterface allows. Without this interface, host-assisted share migration and creation from snapshots across backends cannot work for themanila-datafeature.

Hello @himax16 ![]()
GIven the reasoning provided and the snap’s functionality, the request sounds reasonable, hence +1 from my side for auto-connecting nfs-mount to the manila-data interface.
+1 from me as well to grant auto-connection of nfs-mount interface to manila-data snap.
