Last week, I gave a talk at Perth Linux Users Group about using snaps and Ubuntu Core to put together hobby IoT projects that can keep themselves up to date in a reliable and secure fashion. The talk was recorded and the video is now online:
The slides I used are also available here. I realise it is a somewhat long video, so here are some of the topics covered:
- A very brief overview of packaging an application as a snap.
- Configuring automatic builds published to the edge channel on the store.
- An short overview of Ubuntu Core
- Using the
ubuntu-imagetool to build a custom Ubuntu Core image with extra seeded snaps.
- A demo of building an Ubuntu Core image and booting it in a VM.
