Need to install RealTek RTL8812AU driver for Ubuntu Core 16

Is there a command line snap to upgrade to core20 like desktop&server? I tried >snap find upgrade and didn’t see any prospects. Is my only path to reinstall?

Ubuntu Core 20 uses a completely new partitioning scheme and the boot mechanisms changed a lot as well.
While systems that have orginally been set up with the new partitioning under Ubuntu Core 18 could theoretically be upgraded, i dont think a standard UC18 install can …

Looks like it’s time to reinstall. Thanks for the quick response.

Just to state it explicitly, there is not currently a way to upgrade from Ubuntu Core 16 directly to Ubuntu Core 20. We are working on enabling the following upgrade cases:

  • Ubuntu Core 16 -> default Ubuntu Core 18
  • Ubuntu Core 18 with special partitioning scheme -> Ubuntu Core 20

So there is no way to upgrade to Ubuntu Core 20 from a default Ubuntu Core 16 system, but if you specially craft the partition layout on your Ubuntu Core 18 system, then it will be possible to upgrade to Ubuntu Core 20 (but not quite today, we are still working on the feature).
