Need classic confinement for my Phoenix Firestorm app

To make the review of your request easier, please use the following template to provide all the required details and also include any other information that may be relevant.

  • name: phoenix-firestorm-fans
  • description: viewer for the OpenSim virtual world
  • snapcraft: In the repo below
  • upstream: GitHub - fstltna/Phoenix_FireStorm: Client for the OpenSim virtual world
  • upstream-relation: independant developer
  • supported-category: terminal emulators, multiplexers and shells
  • reasoning: The app fails to run when in strict mode due to some .DLL’s not working properly. I also need to access files outside the snap for uploading/downloading world content

X - I understand that strict confinement is generally preferred over classic.

X - I’ve tried the existing interfaces to make the snap to work under strict confinement.

Note that snappy-debug can be used to identify possible required interfaces. See https://snapcraft.io/docs/debug-snaps for more information.

How exactly does your app relate to i.e. XTerm, gnome-terminal, bash, tmux or screen ? Note that matching the supported category exactly is mandatory for getting classic support granted, a viewer for VR worlds does not really seem to fit into the category you picked (and TBH I doubt you will find one that fits)

What exactly were the errors you saw with snappy-debug when trying strict confinement ?
