Name dispute for snap maigret

I am the author of Maigret, an open-source OSINT tool.

The name maigret is already registered to someone else. I filed a dispute through the dashboard on 15 August and have not heard back, so I am raising it here.

The project has carried the name since 2020. The repository at GitHub - soxoj/maigret: 🕵️‍♂️ Collect a dossier on a person by username from 3000+ sites · GitHub was created on 2020-06-27 and has around 37,000 stars, and the PyPI package has been published under the same name since 2020-12-04, 32 releases, the most recent being 0.6.4 on 2026-08-11. I am the author on both. It is also packaged as maigret by the AUR, Homebrew core, MacPorts, nixpkgs and BlackArch, all tracking that same repository: https://repology.org/project/maigret/versions

The existing registration looks dormant rather than in use. maigret on snapcraft returns 404, so nothing has ever been published under it, and snapcraft names on my account (soxoj) is empty.

The snap itself is ready rather than hypothetical. snap/snapcraft.yaml is in the repository, it builds on core24, and I have installed and run it locally under strict confinement.

Happy to prove control of the repository and the PyPI project any way you prefer, for example by adding a file to either.

Hi, we’ve revoked the existing maigret snap. You should be able to register a new snap using the name maigret.

Spoke too soon, one thing did turn up. Registering the name still fails:

$ snapcraft register maigret
Store operation failed:
- already_claimed: You already registered a claim for the snap name "maigret".

That looks like my own dispute request from 15 August, still in the queue and now blocking a fresh registration. snapcraft names is empty and snapcraft status maigret returns resource-not-found, so it never became one.

Could you clear that claim, or approve it, whichever is easier on your side?
