Sounds like you’re build a core18 or core20 snap.
Support for --verbose on core18|20 snaps is part of snapcraft 7.3, which is currently in the candidate channel. In the meantime, use --enable-developer-debug flag to see details.
How can I get snapcraft to tell me what it is doing, instead of just sitting there counting seconds?
