Hi,
we are happy to announce that the first core18 amd64 image is up and ready for testing. The image is build from the beta channel.
Some highlights:
- core18 (Ubuntu 18.04 based) is used for booting
- pc-kernel from the “18” channel is used as the kernel (version 4.15)
- pc gadget displays the “display-name” from the gadget (which is “Ubuntu Core 18”
- snapd snap contains the latest git version of snap but will soon be updated to 2.35~pre1
- running core16 snaps is fully supported
The image can be downloaded from http://people.canonical.com/~mvo/core18/ - once it is more stable it will move to a more official location.
