Chromium snap doesn't launch

Chromium snap installs without error but fails to launch

marius@NerdZoom-Pinebook:~$ snap run chromium
cannot perform operation: mount --bind /snap/core18/current//etc/nsswitch.conf /tmp/snap.rootfs_SBl78r/etc/nsswitch.conf: Permission denied
marius@NerdZoom-Pinebook:~$ snap --version
snap 2.37.2
snapd 2.37.2
series 16
neon 18.04
kernel 3.10.105-bsp-1.2

Is this on arm64? Is core18 snap installed?

It seems to be installed

The error doesn’t look chromium-specific. Can you try other core18-based snaps? e.g. evince, libreoffice.

this is awkward

any other core18 snaps I could try?

marius@NerdZoom-Pinebook:~$ snap install evince
error: snap "evince" is not available on stable for this architecture (arm64) but exists on other
       architectures (amd64, i386).
marius@NerdZoom-Pinebook:~$ snap install libreoffice
error: snap "libreoffice" is not available on stable for this architecture (arm64) but exists on
       other architectures (amd64).

Try mari0, it’s a small Mario + Portal hybrid game

so this is core18 related

marius@NerdZoom-Pinebook:~$ snap install mari0
mari0 1.6.2+pkg-7fd3 from 林博仁(Buo-ren, Lin) (brlin) installed
marius@NerdZoom-Pinebook:~$ snap run mari0
cannot perform operation: mount --bind /snap/core18/current//etc/nsswitch.conf /tmp/snap.rootfs_BZVCZd/etc/nsswitch.conf: Permission denied
