Chromium not working on wayland

I installed chromium using gnome software . When I try to run chromium nothing happens. I am using pureos 10 (based on debian testing) with gnome 3.38. I then logged out and logged into gnome on xorg. Chromium opens just fine.
When, in wayland, I type chromium in terminal I get the following error:

[10714:10714:1011/205019.926695:ERROR:browser_main_loop.cc(1417)] Unable to open X display.

Then I removed chromium installed using snap and installed chromium using apt . Chromium, installed using apt, works normally without any issues.
Operating System: Pureos 10 byzantium ( which is based on Debian testing).

@linuxnoob,
From what I could see, Chromium snap has wayland disabled by default.

environment:
      DISABLE_WAYLAND: 1
