Changing gadget volume layout in existing gadget

Hi,

For a given gadget snap, which a defined volume structure already installed and in use on devices, if we change the volume structure bu altering the sizes, my assumption is that only newly installed devices get the volume size changes and it will be ignored on currently existing devices [ and not result in an error ].

Is that true ?

Basically, I’m trying to work out if we have to change the size of the ubuntu-seed volume in a gadget that is already in use, will that have any adverse effect on the already built devices ?

I’m not considering boot assets or changing the edition etc.

FYI - in case anyone else find this post, I had some information via Canonical support in the end that this is expected to be fine.
