Call for testing: Beat The Score

Beat The Score

Hey! I’ve released something to the Snap Store that I want to show you today. It’s called Beat The Score.

Beat The Score is a music instrument learning game using Guitar Pro 5 files. They can be visualized on a Piano Roll, as a Score or as Tablature. Store your .gp5 files in ~/snap/beatthescore/common for easy access within the game and select a track to play using either a MIDI keyboard or a guitar using audio analysis. Beat The Score will give you direct feedback about your accuracy and give you a score at the end. You can also replay your sessions and learn at your own pace using “Training Mode”, stopping at every note you have to play.

How to test:

Install the beatthescore Snap and give it the necessary permissions for ALSA MIDI, audio input and to find the underlying libraries:

sudo snap install lomiri-ui-toolkit-core24
sudo snap install beatthescore

sudo snap connect beatthescore:alsa
sudo snap connect beatthescore:audio-record
sudo snap connect beatthescore:lomiri-ui-toolkit lomiri-ui-toolkit-core24

Then start the game and load your favorite Guitar Pro 5 files! Two sample scores are shipped with the Snap so that you don’t have to hunt for a .gp5 file to test.
