snapcraft build service is extremely slow, This is a very small project and it takes more than half hour to build and release. It would be unfair to compare it with flathub facility but on ground developers will lean to use packaging facility that is faster, reliable and responsive.
In recent days, i have reported 3 critical issues with the snapcraft build service itself. I know its a free service and all but same applies to competition.
At this point the snap publisher community should ask serious questions to Canonical, if they are serious about snap and snapcraft for non-partners/ community contributors or not.
Here are recent issues reported:
- cannot publish built snap Built snap says won't release a BLOCKER ISSUE PROBABLY, recently I was not able to publish update to my apps due to this issue an it took more than a week to even acknowledge this issue as a bug.
- build page does not load builds Snapcraft build page fails to load builds another BLOCKER ISSUE publishers cannot trigger new builds; see current builds, their status etc.
- unreliable build tooling using recommended use of extensions/No mechanism to pin version of runtime/sdk, causing broken snaps in store Whatsie fail to load. Missing QT library/plugin - #7 by keshavnrj
