The smt snap currently is classic, but with the addition of cpu-control in snapd 2.35, smt only needs access to hardware-observe and cpu-control. The snap needs hardware-observe to interrogate the system with lscpu to see if smt is in use and needs cpu-control to toggle CPUs on and off.
